OFFENSE
Pass Protection
Pass protection assigns blockers to preserve a pocket and account for likely rushers long enough for routes to develop.
Five blockers cannot always account for five rushers and still protect every gap. That is why hot answers exist.
If the defense adds a rusher, the quarterback must throw the ball to the vacated area or to a screen.
Holding a deep concept into a five-man rush is how sacks and turnovers happen.
